Back Way To Winchester

No frills marathon event, showing an alternative off-road route to travel from Southampton Train Station to Winchester. Runners can park in Southampton and get the train back from the finish in Winchester or park in Winchester and get the train to the start in Southampton. Start time is 8:45am from outside the main entrance to Southampton train station. This ties in with the runners parking in Winchester catching the 8:07 train which arrives at Southampton Central at 8:32am.
The route is not marked and is self-supporting.There are no aid stations. Route GPX will be provided so you must be able to carry a device with this on and be able to navigate using it. You will need a running pack with at least 1.5 litres of liquid plus snacks. Hursley village is at the halfway point on the route (13.2 miles) A short detour from the route here and you will be able to find a shop but this is the only chance before the finish.
