The Fractured Marathon - aka a Friday night party on the trails - is based in the spectacular grounds of Calke Park.
The event will run for 5 hours from 7pm until midnight, going from sunlight to starlight. There will be 10 timed laps around a scenic 2.6-mile course, which will start every half hour on the half hour. Teams or solo runners, can take part in as many or as few of the 10 laps as they like.
On the half hour every half hour runners will gather on the start line and the gun will go, signalling a new lap. Both those running solo or as part of a team, must finish the lap before the next lap starts, otherwise they will have to wait for the next half-hour start time to re-join the fun. Thus, to remain in with a chance of completing a full marathon distance at this exciting event, each loop must be completed within half an hour or less!
The Fractured Marathon offers runners opportunities to achieve distance personal bests in a fun way - run your first half marathon, full marathon etc - and for team / club-mates to have a competition amongst themselves.
There will be prizes for the fastest accumulative marathons for teams in each category as well as solo runners and prizes for non-running related efforts, such as the best fancy dress.
SOLO RUNNERS:
There will be a gazebo set up for Solo Runners with a fully stocked aid-station that they can access after each lap, as well as space to stash kit, food and maybe a chair for those few minutes between laps!
TEAMS:
Teams can be entered in the following categories:
- Male
- Female
- Mixed (at least 50% of loops must be run by a female runner)
Teams are encouraged to bring along tents and gazebos to set up in the team area. These are usually dressed up with fairy lights and music, which really adds to the party on the trails atmosphere that the Fractured Marathon has become so well known for!
