Our 2nd event of the SLOW Mountain Bike Orienteer's 2024 Series.
Based at Froxfield Village Hall near Petersfield this event will make use of the extensive network of trails around the East Hampshire countryside. This new area for SLOW is locally called “Little Switzerland” due to the steep wooded slopes of both the Ashford and Selborne Hangars.
You’ll be given a marked up OS A3 waterproof map and have 2 or 3 hours to visit as many checkpoints as possible. Plan and navigate your own route. The course is designed for all abilities and you can enter as a solo, pair or family team. For 2024 we're introducing changes that will encourage different route choices for 2 hour and 3 hour courses so that you'll visit plenty of checkpoints on either option.
To participate you will need the MapRun App on your Android or iPhone, or a Garmin Watch with the MapRunG App, or any GPS watch. The course will be sent out the day before the ride & the PIN code issued at the start. It's important not to enter the PIN code until you are ready to go as your time will start as as soon as you do so. If you're new to orienteering and don't have a map board you'll be given a basic one to attach to your bike.
