NAV4: Askham Mountain Film Festival

Askham Mountain Film Festival will be streaming a selection of films from the excellent London Mountain Film Festival. We'll be selecting films featuring a wide range of mountain and outdoor activities, stories and journeys from people connected to us and the local area.  There will be something for everyone from climbing, biking, mountaineering and watersports, and adventures of all types.

To complement the main films being shown in the main hall will be a selection of other films and speakers in the smaller hall, along with some short skills sessions, workshops or Q&A's with filmmakers, guest speakers or simply other local heroes and legends.

Our breakout social area, with free flowing tea and coffee, allows you to meet fellow like minded people.  We'll be looking to provide some food options, and a licensed bar for later in the day.  Or, alternatively, take an outdoors break, grab some fresh air and enjoy a walk, run or bike ride around the wonderful Askham area.

Make a weekend or overnight trip and enjoy a drink with Campervans - Friday or Saturday Night for just £10 per van.

Outline Programme

In addition to those films being streamed from LMFF on the 'Big Screen' in the main hall, there will be a 'Second Stage' of guest speakers in the smaller hall. These are now confirmed as:

11am - Mel Steventon - "The First Female Wainwrights Round"

Mel was the first known female completion.  Mel with be assisted by Paul 'The Beast' Taylor, who was instrumental in the hard middle days of her epic and much more.  Mel runs Due North Events ( a friend who created LAW100 which has now morphed into LAW75)

12noon - Angela White aka The Running Granny - "62@62"

'Aunty Ang' made a film of her Steve Parr Round. She will introduce the film and present her thoughts.

1:30pm - Geoff Cox - creator of "A Shepherd's Hand" and Co-author of Traceless with Heather Dawe.

2:30pm - David Atkinson - " Keep it Simple, Still Journeying On"

A semi-retired under-the-radar adventurer. Ex-elite class Ironman, way, way back when Ironman was just for hardcore athletes, semi pro cyclist, and part-time Postie sponsored by Greggs pies.

I met Dave on the fell running scene and got him into Expedition Adventure Racing. A career change and now semi-retired teacher, he is still Journeying on.

3:30pm - Sarah Fuller - "A Fuller Adventure"

Legend of the Spine Race, (sic) Sarah will talk about one or more of her multi-faceted adventures, with or without teenage children. Sarah clocks up 'just normal days out in the mountains, or sea kayaking'  Super modest, no fuss, under the radar. Also an amazing painter.  Sarah tells me she will present,  "Adventures, with and without Teenagers"

4:30pm - Dr Siohban Brennan - " Burn Out, Bereavement and The Spine Race"

Siobhan leads with Justine Carruthers and Louise Greenwood being the other members of the 'Bananarama Does The Spine' trio in the wings.

7pm - Stuart Smith - " A Brew With Stu" Stuart interviews a surprise guest or two.

We also have Leo Houlding coming to introduce his 'Two point Four' and 'Freya' films on the BIG Screen, probably at 8pm.
