This is a friendly half marathon, now in its 14th year, which remains relatively small and exclusive due to its island location. The event is deliberately timed for the end of the season when most other island races have taken place. The half marathon route starts on the Isle of Berneray, off the north cost of North Uist, near the Gatliff Trust Hostel, it crosses a causeway to North Uist and finishes in Lochmaddy at the Lochmaddy Hotel - who are the event sponsors.
The route of the race is gently undulating, but is not as challenging as some island courses - there are no killer hills! It is however very scenic, with sea views for virtually the whole way. The whole route is rural and most of it is on single-track surfaced roads, with very little traffic.
Please note that the route and distance have been officially measured by Scottish Athletics!
