Canalathon Ultra 100km & 50km (Solo / Relay Option)
A thrilling footrace across the Yorkshire & Lancashire Counties via the Rochdale Canal.
This event is held on an 'out and back' course along well-maintained canal towpaths with minimal elevation. Although the race is mainly held on hard, dry surfaces it is recommended that trail running shoes are worn.
The opportunity to record fast, flat miles over Ultra distances is not often achievable and, for this reason, we created The Canalathon Ultra. No navigation is needed, no hill climbing is necessary, just the hard-nosed commitment to get from point A to B. Our event races power along the Rochdale Canal from Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire to Manchester in Lancashire then back passing through historic industrial towns and stunning Pennine landscapes passing aid stations and feed stations along the way.
Race HQ is based at The Sowerby Bridge Cricket Club and both races will start and finish here.

Spectators bring lots of personal support for their fabulous runners and help invigorate the whole experience with their energy, happiness and great looking signage. Here's some useful info for them to get the most from the event:
If you are travelling by car, bear in mind that some of the checkpoint locations may not have car parking areas.
They can be accessed by parking responsibly in a nearby designated parking area, walking from the closest train station or bus stop, or by bicycle along the roads or canal.
There are several pubs along the canal. Several have children’s play areas and all serve food. See the pacing and cut off info to plan when to expect to see your runner.
