Advanced Skyrunning - single day course

Let Mountain Run's seasoned skyrunning instructors help you to gain the skills necessary to develop your skill set further to excel in the skyraces you have booked this season.

Based in Great Langdale | The home of the Rab Scafell Sky Race | All about an Advanced Skyrunning

What to expect: 

  • A professionally delivered course
  • An extreme skyrace winner and fully qualified instructor to teach you all the know how

  • Technical ground and graded scrambling around the valley of Great Langdale

  • Efficiency of movement over technical terrain
  • Mixed weather - dress & plan accordingly

What will you learn? 

  • How to move over technical terrain found in most high end technical skyraces
  • Efficiency of movement patterns for ease of travel
  • How to scramble on graded scrambles, unroped and in control
  • Up and downhill running techniques
  • Scree running
  • How to pace your race
  • When to run, when to walk

Who is it for? 

All skyrunners wanting to move from entry level races to skly races where scrambling on graded ground is a reality. Any climber or alpinist wanting to transfer skills to skyrunning. 

Course Program

09:30 to 17:30

  • 1.5 hours of uphill/downhill/scree runnning [on the best scree in the Lakes]
  • 6.5 hours 'actual skyrunning' over some of the best technical sections of the Rab Scafell Sky Race route, plus 3 graded scrambles on route

Meeting Location: Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Great Langdale, LA22 9AQ

What to bring

  • Waterproof jacket & trousers (taped seams please)
  • Spare L/S base layer, Primaloft layer or similar (no cotton please)
  • Hat or buff
  • Gloves
  • Hill food/Lunch Snacks
  • Race Vest/Small Pack to put it all in.
  • Sky, Mountain or Trail running shoes.
  • An open mind and willingness to learn

Please be aware we might be moving at slow speeds at some points during the day: please account for this in your clothing selection.
