Coniston is a classic Lakeland fell race: steep and rough in places with some fantastic ridge running and an interesting final descent, depending on the line you pick.
PARKING will be at Coniston CE Primary School, LA21 8AL - GR 3046 9779. There will be a charge of £5 per car and space is limited, so please car share where possible. Payment is cash only; please bring the exact amount if you can. The car park will open at 09:30. All parking proceeds will go to the school.
No parking anywhere else in the village please as this will jeopardise the future of the race.
REGISTRATION will be at the Coniston Institute, LA21 8DU - GR 30209771 - and will open at 10:00. The route from the car park will be marked.
KIT CHECK for all runners will take place at registration prior to collecting numbers and dibbers. All runners must carry the minimum FRA mandatory kit regardless of the weather. No kit, no race.
RACE NUMBERS must be clearly displayed on the front of your vest and not folded in any way, as per FRA rules.
RUNNING/WALKING POLES are not permitted.
The race starts on the Copper Mines Road - a 2 minute walk from race registration; checkpoints are on the summits of Wetherlam, Swirl How and the Old Man; with the finish in the field adjacent to Coniston Institute. None of the route is flagged; however, you will be directed off the Copper Mines Road and up Mouldry Bank soon after the start by a marshal.
CUT-OFFS: there will be a 90 minute cut-off at Swirl Hause - GR 27830077. This will be strictly enforced.
