The full race is a counter for the Callin Wild Manx Fell Running league. Please note that to be eligible for the league you must join MFR or a suitable IoM athletics club by 18/06/2024, and also cover a marshal slot in 2024.

The short course is a counter for both the Junior league and Senior Short Course series.

Race rules and league eligibility requirements can be found at this link https://manxfellrunners.org/rules

League fixtures can be found here https://manxfellrunners.org/fixture-list

Minimum age of entry is 18 years for the long course (but runners must turn 19 by 31st December) and 12 for the short/junior race (juniors must be at least 13 years old by the 31st Dec). A parent/guardian will need to register and enter for a junior (U18). There is no charge for junior entries.

The race is held under FRA rules, please read these here.   Waterproof whole body cover (with hood and taped seams), map and compass suitable for navigation, whistle and emergency food are required for runners in the full course race. Short/junior course runners must bring waterproof jacket (not just windproof) and trousers, hat, gloves and whistle.

Fell running takes place on steep, rough and boggy ground, in remote and weather-exposed locations. Full courses are not marked, so self-navigation (using a map and compass) is required.

Full Race Route -  Start and finish is at the Ard Whallan Outdoor Pursuits Centre in West Baldwin. GR 356830. The full course visits the summits of Colden, Greeba and Slieau Ruy. Sections of open moorland must be navigated in places along with muddy sheep paths and exposed summits. The short/junior course is fully flagged, climbing first to the Creg, then dropping to the valley beyond. Route descriptions and maps for both races can be found here.

The start and finish sections of the course (fields between Ardwhallan centre and the mountain wall) are private land and can only be accessed on race day. This section can be bypassed by starting at Colden car park, Cronk Breck or King’s Forest/Greeba.
