27 mile circular route from Galleywood Common, following the maze of footpaths and bridleways south of Chelmsford on a scenic circular tour of Hanningfield Reservoir.
17 mile route also heads south to the Checkpoint in the village of Downham, then returns via Stock Village.
The Essex Walker event is part of the Essex and Herts Triple Challenge, together with Blackwater Marathon and Herts Hobble.
Venue: Galleywood Heritage Centre, The Common, Galleywood. CM2 8TR (GR TL 702 025).
Distance: 27 and 17 miles
Start times: 27 mile walkers from 8.00am, runners from 9.00 am. 17 mile walkers from 9.30am, runners from 10.30am. depending on route and speed. All to finish by 6.00pm.
Two checkpoints on long route, one on short route.
Costs include hot/cold drinks at start, plus snacks/sandwiches at checkpoints, and meal at finish. Certificate to all finishers.
Entry limit 200.
Entries close Sunday 7th April 2024 or earlier if limit is reached.
Entries are not transferable.
No entries on the day.
No refunds after Saturday 6th April 2024 unless the event is cancelled.
No dogs
All entrants to bring a mug.
Minimum age 16, under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
