From Grassington we access tracks of stone, gravel, earth and tarmac on a circular route with Mastiles Lane, an old drovers lane set between high stone walls with a 1st Century Roman marching camp, providing spectacular views of Upper Wharfedale

On the Mills n Moors Series we connect bridleways, singletrack and minor lanes on a circular route that explores out of the way places.  We use public rights of way on a route that is 90% 'off-road' and whilst the trails are in good condition there will be mud, puddles, steep and rough sections of trail where you might have to push your bike, stream crossings, for example, Gordale Beck and of course ruts / rocks as it's the north of England.

       ‘Blue’ grade gravel /mtb - 33km + 600 meters of climbing

        ‘Red’ grade gravel / mtb - 41km + 810 meters of climbing

Maps and a description of the Mastiles Lane route plus elevation profiles together with the location of the starting line can be found on the Yorkshire Divide website: https://yorkshiredivide.co.uk/mills-n-moors-series

Meet us at the start line between 9am-10am for a cup of tea / coffee and home made flapjack, pick up your embroidered cloth badge and head off.  There is no ‘mass start’.

The group social ride departs at 10.10am. If you aren’t 100% confident about following a gpx route file or just want to ride with a bunch of other folk on a bike then join us. There is no fixed speed we cycle at. We will be stopping and waiting for each other and we can take turns opening the many gates!

The rides on the Mills n Moors Series are a personal challenge. They are not races, there is no ‘mass start' and the route is NOT way marked. Riders may start at any time as they will have received the GPX route file the week before the start date. The routes are NOT techy enduro or downhill mtb style routes but we do cross open moorland and there is no rescue vehicle.

Any one of the following bikes would get you around the route: Gravel bike / Cyclocross bike / Mountain bike / E-bike. The terrain is not suitable for road bikes. We recommend tyres of 40mm upwards. A spirit of adventure is an advantage!

Any question about the Series or a specific ride then please contact yorkshiredivide@gmail.com
