West Cumberland Orienteering Club are delighted to invite you to the 2024 British Night Orienteering Championships at Hawse End near Keswick.
The event will take place in a stunning location on the Western shores of Derwent Water. This area has only recently been secured after the loss of the planned area of Whinlatter Forest due to felling and mostly comprises runnable deciduous woodland with a path network and some rock and contour detail.

In addition there will be a non-championship Orange course available to pre enter.
Course details subject to final controlling decisions.
Preliminary start window will be from 6:30 to 7:30 pm depending on the number of entries received.
There will be seeding on Courses 1 to 8. At present this is expected to be top 20 runners at 3 minute intervals.
Courses will close promptly at 9:45 pm (tbc in final details).
All courses are planned to TD5 standard. M/W14s wishing to run must be vetted for experience. Please email the event organiser with name, club and a short summary of relevant experience of competing at TD5 and night orienteering courses before submitting an entry. The organiser reserves the right to refuse or cancel entries of those who cannot demonstrate the necessary experience.
Entry to BNOC 2024 is open only to members of the British Orienteering Federation, and to members of overseas IOF-affiliated Federations.
To be eligible to be a British Champion, an individual competitor must on the day immediately preceding the event be a member of British Orienteering, and either:
and must compete in their correct age class, or 'run up' in a lower age class (or older age class for juniors).
Neighbouring clubs - Borderliners will be hosting an urban sprint in Keswick on the Saturday of that weekend and Lakeland Orienteering Club are planning an event on Loughrigg Fell on Sunday so it really should make a great weekend of orienteering.
