Join us for an unforgettable cycling experience at our Solstice Sundowners event. This epic ride will take you on an exhilarating off-road journey through the stunning landscapes of Chepstow, the Wye Valley Greenway, Tintern, the Brecon Beacons, Aberdare and Cardiff Bay.
Starting in Chepstow, riders will quickly veer off-road and venture through the picturesque Wye Valley Greenway, before reaching the renowned Tidenham Tunnels that add a thrilling element to the ride. Crossing over the River Wye into Tintern, the route then begins a climb to the top of Beacon Hill, offering breathtaking views along the way.
After conquering Beacon Hill riders can enjoy some easier miles on gravel and tarmac roads, providing a welcome respite before entering the remote and exposed terrain of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). Passing through the awe-inspiring Trefil Quarry, the route leads to fast and technical singletrack that descends to the picturesque Ponsticill Reservoir.
Continuing on, the ride progresses towards Aberdare, where a challenging off road climb awaits to reach the top of the mountain, joining route 47. This section of the route is entirely off-road and rewards riders with sweeping panoramic views of the Bannau Brycheiniog and the majestic Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in Southern Britain.
As the journey nears its end, the ride gradually descends towards Cardiff Bay, leading cyclists through a series of scenic cycleways. Finally, you will arrive in the heart of Cardiff Bay, where a well-deserved drink awaits, providing the perfect end to an incredible adventure.
