Setting off from the shores of Windermere in the Lake District, this ultramarathon takes place on arguably the most beautiful trail in the country, the iconic Dales Way. The route stays mainly in the Yorkshire Dales National Park once it leaves Cumbria and largely follows the path of the River Wharfe as it winds its way through the Dales. Runners travel over moors, across limestone pavements and through deep valleys, passing Dent, Buckden, Kettlewell, Grassington and Burnsall on the way. Major sights include the The Howgills, the Yorkshire Three Peaks and Ilkley Moor, as well as the beautiful Lune Valley, Dentdale, Camhouses and Bolton Abbey.
