The Lakeland Four Passes is a classic 18(ish) mile circular route with over 5000ft of ascent which starts and finishes at Gatesgarth Farm, at the SE end of Buttermere.

The 1st pass is an old miners path and is probably the hardest of the day taking you to Warnscale Bothy at the top of Honister Pass, before dropping to the Slate Mine and in to Borrowdale. The 2nd pass takes you to Sty Head Tarn between the Scafell Massif and Great Gable before dropping to the beautiful but always dramatic Wasdale with Cumbria's deepest lake. Onto the 3rd which is the often underestimated Black Sail Pass, with a distinctly technical descent to the Youth Hostel. The 4th and final pass is Scarth Gap, and it happens to be the easiest ascent of the day & gives views of Haystacks, Wainwrights resting place to the right. From the top it's a  long descent down to Buttermere and the finish at Gatescarth Farm.

Registration will be open from 7.30am, walkers set off at 8.30am & runners an hour later at 9.30am, you have until 17.30pm to finish to avoid being out in the dark.

Our desire is to put on tough events that are fun, friendly & good value so included in race entry fee is a comprehensive route description, timing, fully stocked check points with a variety of provisions (including cake, lots of cake), a proper hot meal at the end & a bespoke medal for all finishers.

Both runners and walkers are not only catered for but welcome on all our events. We provide low-key, friendly and welcoming events that are as much about having fun and meeting like-minded people as they are about racing and chasing down times. We treat all participants the same, whether they're the superhuman racing snakes or the hikers getting the most value out of the hours available to them.

Please note we will have a mandatory kit list of: full body waterproof cover, emergency food, minimum 500ml of water, portable cup for drinks, survival blanket, whistle, map & compass (and know how to use them) as this a self navigated route.

Dogs are welcome on our events but must be accompanied by a well-behaved human and kept under control near livestock.
