LUNDY ISLAND HALF MARATHON

Please see below for details of the non-Raceboat entry. You have to make your own way to the island by chartering a boat or booking accommodation on the island and booking their ferry on a separate day. The Raceboat is a separate entry.

THIS ENTRY IS FOR 14th JULY 2024 only.

Timings of the race and mandatory kit requirements are below. Please read all the given information, especially Terms and Conditions before proceeding.

Non-Raceboat entry provides Race entry only. You must make your own way to the island.

The first event of its kind on Lundy Island. Conceived by Outeredge Race Director Mark Brooks in 2018. The event has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, with a visit from the BBC Radio 4's Open Country giving it a nationwide platform.

We've had some amazing feedback and reviews of the Race, and quite rightly so.. The Lundy Island Race is very special, with runners coming back time after time to take on this tough and remote challenge out there in the Bristol Channel.

This is what makes the Lundy Island Race the most unique Trail running experience we have created so far. 13.5 miles of pristine, wildlife-encrusted tracks and trails, tended by the Landmark Trust, and open for us to run, walk or crawl.. Although we do have a 3.75 hour time-limit on the race, so please be aware of this to avoid disappointment.

During the race you will visit all four corners of the island, traversing the technical eastern coastal trail, and the undulating western clifftops, clinging to the precipitous slopes before running along the central spine of the island (as well as a few side-tracks).

You will definitely discover this beautiful and rugged island in all its glorious entirety..

We've procured the MS Oldenburg to get you to the island ship-shape relaxed and ready to go. The boat will take 250 runners. So when it is full, so is the race (unless you travel on the scheduled service the day before and stay longer).

The Lundy 'Raceboat' departs Ilfracombe harbour at 9am and arrives at Lundy at 11am. Race start-time is 12:15pm and the 'Raceboat' will depart Lundy at 6.30pm, giving you plenty of chill-out time after the race. We will arrive back in Ilfracombe harbour at 8.30pm.

*Please note that the Boat is solely for runners entered in The Lundy Island Race. Times may vary slightly from that published.

Upon arrival, you will walk up to race HQ in the village (approx. 15 minutes) to register and collect your race number.

Registration will be on the village green outside the Marisco Tavern. This is also the start and finish of the race.

Each entrant will receive a Day Return Trip to the island aboard the MS Oldenburg, and every finisher will receive the much-coveted Lundy Puffin medal.

The race will be fully marked and marshalled with first aid on course and at race HQ. Two Aid Stations, one at the North Lighthouse and the other at Castle Hill, just south of the village centre. Both Stations are visited twice.

The Raceboat is a chartered ferry for Runners and marshals only. There is no room for foot passengers.

Dogs are not allowed on Lundy Island.

Minimum age for running the Lundy Island Race under TRA rules is 17 years.

MANDATORY KIT-LIST required :-
