The Pennine Journey long-distance footpath follows in Wainwright’s footsteps, traversing some of the most delightful terrain that Northern England has to offer over 247 miles and 37,000 feet of ascent.
Starting and finishing in Settle, your journey will take you through the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Durham Dales, Northumberland National Park, Cumbria, and the North Pennines AONB, making for a truly epic adventure.
You will need to be able to evidence previous challenges, illustrating the correct level of experience to undertake this event safely. Whilst we will be on hand to support you at checkpoints and in emergency situations, this is a self-supported event: you will need to carry all the mandatory kit and know how to fend for yourself on the trails.
The PJ-247 will start at 08:00 on Saturday 23rd September 2023 at Settle Railway Station. There is a 144-hour (six days) cut-off time to midnight on Friday 29th for completion. There are only 50 places available.
The only known non-stop running completion of the entire route was achieved by Brian Melia in 2021, in an incredible time of 3 days 16hrs 16mins 58 secs.
Entry includes:
· Event trackers
· Parking at the Cricket Club throughout the event
· 7 fully stocked aid stations providing hot food and drinks (approx. 30 miles apart)
· 4 drop bag locations
· Medical/safety cover throughout
· Hot meal, cakes and drinks at the finish.
· Bespoke Eco memento for all finishers, PJ-247 hoodie and certificate of completion.
· Trophies and prizes for category winners
Once you've entered this event, if you'd like to take part in the shorter 52 or 112 mile North versions which cover some of the Northern sections, please contact us for a 50% discount code. The North event takes place in April and would make an ideal recce on some of the trickier to navigate areas.
