The Daffodil Dawdle returns in 2023 with two distances,18 and 26 miles. Starting from Stradbroke Community Centre the route heads northwards through Fressingfield and on to the first checkpoint at Weybread. From here the Angles Way is joined for a few miles, passing along the Waveney Valley and through Brockdish. The route then turns southwards on the Mid Suffolk Footpath to the second checkpoint at Hoxne. At this point the 18 mile route heads back towards Stradbroke. The 26-mile route continues on the Mid Suffolk Footpath towards Eye and then passes through the villages of Redlingfield and Athelington before returning to Stradbroke.

As this event takes place in March we are hoping for some lovely early spring weather, however, participants should be prepared for bad weather and carry the minimum kit of waterproof trousers and jacket, hat, additional warm layer, suitable footwear, map of the route (either downloaded electronically or paper OS Explorer 230), route description, own mug and any personal food/drink.

The route description and GPX file for both routes will be available at least a week before the event. Substitutions are not permitted. Refunds of £10 (LDWA member) and £20 (non-LDWA member) are possible up to the 1st of March 2023, subject to the event being over 80% full. Please contact the event organiser directly.

Vegetarian food options will be available, and a small amount of vegan food, but if you have any specific food requirements we recommend that you bring your own food. This can be taken to the checkpoints if required. If you have any food allergy please ensure that the event organiser is aware, we cannot guarantee that food supplied will be allergen free.

Under-18-year-olds must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult and bring with them to the event a completed Parental Consent Form, please email the organiser to request a form.

Dogs, on a lead and under control at all times, are allowed but are not permitted in the checkpoint buildings.

There is free parking at Stradbroke High School, please car share where possible as spaces are limited.

Completion of the Daffodil Dawdle, Summer Poppyline (22.07.2023) and Flower of Suffolk (01.10.2023) will complete the Tri-Anglian Challenge for 2023 and be awarded the coveted Tri-Anglian badge!
