The Dartmoor VOLCANO race was the first race of the OuterEdge race series. Now it's back for a 7th year!

It's a 10.5-mile, 100% trail race over rough Moorland tracks and trails, with over 650m 0f ascent.

The high-level route touches southern Dartmoor's highest point, Ryder's Hill (515m), and traverses rocky, boggy, and sometimes extremely 'technical' terrain. With the focal point of the Race.....the Red Lake Volcano visible from miles around.

The Dartmoor Volcano Race is Dartmoor's premier fell race and has become a classic since its inauguration in 2015.

The Race includes:

  • 3 river crossings
  • 1 Clapper Bridge crossing
  • 2 Bogs
  • 1 Volcano ascent
  • 1 long uphill start
  • 1 long downhill finish

Start time 10:30 am

Fully marked and marshaled by experienced trail runners.

Bespoke medal for all finishers. Brand spankingly new design for 2023!

Event T-shirts can be purchased through the SiEntries system at anytime and collected on Raceday.

The race starts and finishes in the village of Scorriton, (TQ110JB) on the edge of Dartmoor. 4 miles off the A38, Buckfastleigh/Ashburton junction.

Race held under Trail Running Association guidelines, permission of Dartmoor National Park Authority and the land owners.
