Jurassic Coast Trail Races, Exmouth to Seaton on Sunday 2nd April 2023.

Sweetcombe Scramble Marathon , 26.2 miles (Solo). Start 9am.

JP’s Exe to Axe , 22 miles (Solo and Relay). Start 10am.

19th year of JP’s Exe to Axe. In celebration of 50 years of the South West Coast Path Association, this year there is a marathon option, the Sweetcombe Scramble Marathon. Please note that the Marathon is self-navigated. JP's Exe to Axe is marshalled as in previous years.

In addition to the running events, we are also opening both the marathon and the 22mile events to walkers to enjoy the beautiful scenery. (Please note this entry page is for the running event, if you wish to enter the walking challenge click here).

The races start at Foxes Hole Car Park, Marine Drive, Exmouth. EX8 2AY and follows the Coast Path to Seaton, finishing at the far end of the espalande. The Marathon also includes an additional loop inland along the River Otter. All races will have chip timing attached to the race number. These are tough races with around 4000 feet of ascent and with the last 10 miles being particularly tough.

 

Relay Option 2 to 4 runners. Race number to be passed on from one runner to the next. Could be attached to belt, vest or other means.

Marathon. Self-navigation. GPS trackers provided by Geo Tracks can be linked to a GPS tracker, smart phone or watch. This app is designed for navigational use. It centres on your tracker and shows the course as a red line. The link to download the GPS live tracking app can be downloaded from our website.

Family and friends can also follow your progress using the app. Trackers will be handed out at the start. Written route information can be found on the club website. Check points are at the water stations, White Bridge Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth and Branscombe.

Pre-race Transport. Pre-race transport will be provided for both races, from the Finish at Seaton to the start at Exmouth. Cost £10. The transport is only before the race and is on condition that a place is booked in advance. Leaves Seaton: Marathon 7:45am, Exe to Axe 8:30am.

Hand Baggage. Runners baggage can be transported from the start to the finish, if required. Please attached the removable tag on the bottom of your race number

Restrictions. No runners under the age of 18 and no dogs.

 

Time Limits. Marathon: 8 hours. Exe to Axe 7 hours.

Cut-off times: Exe to Axe: Budleigh Salterton, White Bridge 11.30am, Sidmouth 1:15pm, Branscombe 3:45pm, Finish at Seaton 5pm.

Cut-off times: Marathon: Budleigh Salterton, White Bridge (after inland loop) 12pm, Sidmouth 2pm, Branscombe 3:45pm. Finish at Seaton 5pm
