As part of the South of Scotland Orienteering League KFO are staging an orienteering event at Devilla Forest, Kincardine, incorporating the Scottish Student Championships.
The following courses will be on offer: white, yellow, orange, light green, short green, green, blue, brown.
White: Technical Difficulty 1 (easy). Controls on paths at every decision point.
Yellow: Technical Difficulty 2 (easy). Controls on paths and tracks with a single navigation decision required in between controls.
Orange: Technical Difficulty 3 (moderate). Controls are located just off paths, tracks, fences, and fine navigation is required to locate.
Light Green: Technical Difficulty 4 (moderate/tricky). Controls are located further away from linear features and more advanced navigation is required to locate, but courses are planned to provide an early warning when navigation has gone wrong.
Short Green, Green, Blue, Brown. Technical Difficulty 5 (hard): Controls are on geographic features and far from linear features, with no safety provided when navigation has gone wrong. These courses are designed to challenge. For experienced orienteers only. Short green is the shortest technical difficulty 5 course and Brown the longest.

This section will only be visible when you enter a course eligible for the Student Champs (Orange, Short Green, Green, or Blue). Please take care to choose a relevant course!
Location: Access road to Devilla Wood Transfer Station, near Kincardine, FK10 4AT / NS 970 874
Car Parking will be on the tarmac road leading to “Devilla Wood Transfer Station” (saw mill) off the A985. Car Parking is limited. Please share transport where possible, especially if travelling in single-occupancy vehicles. No Camper vans please – please contact the organiser for options. Registration and download will be at the end of the forest track opposite the Saw Mill. Mobile toilets will be provided nearby (north) of Registration.
A string course will be provided.
The Start window is between 10.30am and 12:30pm. Courses will “close” at 2:30pm.
The Start is located 900m from the Registration, along a forest track. The finish is located 750m from Registration also along the same forest track.
The Courses are not suitable for buggies.
