NAV4 Lakes in A Day Recce - Caldbeck to Threlkeld
Joe Faulkner and his NAV4 team host the official recce days on behalf of Durty Events.
This recce covers the first section of the event, from the start at Caldbeck to Threlkeld, including the fording of the River Caldew, the ascent of Blencathra and the descent of Halsfell Ridge. After a couple of miles of lane and trail, the majority of the terrain is remote open rough fell, with small grassy wet 'trods', rocky sections and, of course, the infamous Halsfell descent.
Total distance is just 12 miles but also 3600' of ascent and descent, so it's slow going (not very runnable for most of us!) on a tough section, with some key navigation to master.
The session will include lots of information about the event, suitable clothing gear and shoe choices, what to eat and drink, navigation and route advice, event strategy and training methods.
Places are currently* limited to just five people; it's a small 'one group' steady pace recce led by Joe Faulkner.
Meet at Caldbeck at 9am, outside The Oddfellows Arms. Transport provided back from Threlkeld afterwards.
Don't miss out - it will probably be the last one! 'Final Info' email sent the week before.
Ps - A waiting list will operate - and a second group could be added if demand exists.
This event offers the option to purchase Booking Protect, so that participants may be able to get a refund if they are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances.
