These sessions are for young people with an anticipated age between 8 - 14.  They are one hour in duration starting at 11:30am.  The sessions will equip the participants with basic orienteering skills able to complete an intermediate orienteering course and to continue with orienteering for the long term, if they wish.    For this reason, we are offering the three sessions as a block booking.

The activity dates are 3rd, 10th and 17th September at 11:30am.   Meeting point will be the public car park on Pittencrieff Street.

The following skills will be introduced:

  • The map specification;
  • Orienteering control and feature symbols;
  • Map reading and interpretation;
  • Route planning;
  • Pin-pointing your location on the map.

At the end of the sessions participants will be able to mark their achievement at our local orienteering event at Pittencrieff Park on 24th September (small entry fee applies).  This event is suitable for friends and families too.

Further details will be sent via email once the course is confirmed.

The coaching will be outside, in the Park and participants should dress in warm and comfortable clothes (eg joggers, fleece, waterproof in inclement weather).

Kingdom of Fife Orienteers is an orienteering club, affiliated with the Scottish Orienteering Association and British Orienteering.  We have ClubFife accreditation from Fife Council and the sessions will be run by a qualified orienteering coach verified to coach young people.
