NIMRA Championship – Short distance race

Registration: 17:45 – 18:45 Scrabo Country Park, Upper car park, BHAC Gazebo (for collection of race #)

Race start:   19:00

Distance:   6.4km / 4.0miles

Ascent:   365m / 1200ft

Parking: Scrabo Country Park, Upper car park adjacent to Scrabo Golf Club. Overflow available at lower car park (Killynether Wood)

Route Description:

Race will start in field adjacent to lower car park and follow forest trails / singletrack around a figure of eight course for a total of 2 laps. Finish will be at Scrabo Tower. Course consists of short steep ascents, narrow paths, steps and a lot of tree roots/rocks. Course will be fully way-marked with sawdust & tape. There will be a ‘dibber’ point at start & finish.

Race Start: Briefing will be held at start area at 6:55pm - all runners must attend.

Equipment: there will be no mandatory kit for this race but a rain jacket is recommended in the event of bad weather. Please bring own pins

Marshalls: Marshalls will be located at major junctions and at crossing points. Runners must comply with instructions from marshalls.

Retirements: All retiring runners should report to the nearest marshall’s post (if possible), return by the safest, direct route and must report to the race organisers at the finish.

    The main aspects for this event we would like you to pay attention to are:

    • At the Start please maintain social distancing.
    • Face coverings are advised at registration
    • During the event please use the hand sanitisers provided to maintain hygiene
    • During the race please be aware of who is around you and try to maintain distance, especially when approaching Controls
    • Please be mindful of other country park users and give them space
    • Please minimise pre and post-activity socialising and maintain your distance

    IMPORTANT in line with current NI Government advice You MUST NOT attend the activity if You are unwell with a cough, fever, or other Covid symptoms OR you have tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 5 days.

    If you have had Covid or been in close contact with someone who has had it within the last 10 days please take extra caution around other people at the event in case you are still infectious.

    If you have a condition that makes you Clinically Vulnerable, please follow current government and medical advice before registering.

  • NO headphones or ear pieces of any description are allowed for safety reasons.
  • Reasonable fitness levels needed – this is not an easy ‘trail’ race.
