Pitfichie Enduro - Aberdeenshire Enduro Series #1 2022

The Aberdeenshire Enduro Series (AES) is back again! As many of you will know, many of Aberdeenshire's forests were massively affected by storms over the winter with hundreds of thousands of trees blown over across the region with hundreds of paths and trails affected. We would like to give special thanks to all the landowners this year for allowing these events to take place with everything going on. We would also like to thank the countless unsung heroes that have helped bring back the trails affected by the storms.

Our one day enduro events have a fun and friendly atmosphere, with some brilliant food on offer from various local charities and small businesses - so make sure to bring some change! . We attract all levels of rider, from the seriously competitive, to those just looking for a brilliant day in the hills in good company. Enduro has become very popular in recent years and we are super excited to be able to bring it to NE Scotland, riding some of the best areas in the country. Riders are timed in stages that are primarily downhill, with neutral transfer stages in between. Our event routes are usually around 25-35km long, with 4-6 timed single track stages, which are aimed to be rideable by reasonably competent mountain bikers.

Building upon 2021’s success, with sellouts of all of our events, we plan to be hosting three events this year at Pitfichie and two other locations to be announced. We’ve also increased our maximum capacity from 250 to 300 participants, but we’re expecting a massive demand again this year. So if you want to take part, make sure you sign up quickly. We can't wait to see you all soon and get racing!

Race Categories

The full route takes in some of the best trails in the area. The 'lite route' omits the technically most demanding downhill stage and hence is also shorter in overall distance, compared to the full route. All categories have great prizes provided by our valued sponsors, all of whom are businesses based in North East Scotland. We’ve decided to base ages off your age on the 1st January 2022 to keep it as close to the event as possible.

Age and Race Capacity Limits

Entrants need to be a minimum of nine years old on the day of the event. Your entry category will be based on your age on the 1st January 2022, although eight year olds who have turned nine by the date of an event may enter it as a Youth (see below).  Youth riders (and their chaperone) may, although not required, ride together in a group, supported by our experienced, qualified Youth Group Leader - Chris Roper from Ride In Peace Adventures

We have an overall rider limit of 300 participants. We are expecting a sell out, so sign up soon not to miss out!

Youths

  • Each youth rider must have an adult chaperone
  • The chaperone must accompany the youth to race registration
  • The chaperone can only look after a maximum of two youth riders.
  • The chaperone will ride behind the youth participant and be available to take care of any issues with the youth e.g. bike problems, injuries or withdrawals
  • Youth riders plus chaperones will set off half an hour before the main group.

Pre-Event Guided Rides

We are working with local guiding companies  to bring you a host of pre-event guide rides. This is a chance to get familiar with the sorts of trails you’ll be riding and hone your skills for the upcoming races. Check out our social media to find out more details on specific events.

Special Thanks

A huge thanks to Add Energy for again sponsoring the number plates for this year's events. They’ve created some fantastic designs for each event, which will be featured on your race plates! Also our thanks to Forestry and Land Scotland permission to host the Pitfichie Enduro 2022 on their land.

Local Trail Projects

£1 donation per participant for every event will be donated towards local projects that are developing, improving and sustaining trails in the region. Pitfichie will see donations going to Aberdeenshire Trails Association. Entrants will also be able to make their own voluntary donation during online event entry.

Photography/Videography

By entering and participating in the event, you consent to be photographed, filmed and/or otherwise recorded. Your entry constitutes your consent to such photography, filming and/or recording and to any use, in any and all media.
