This is the third event in this winter's Northern Night Cup (NNC) league held at Nairn East beach on Wednesday, 15th December 2021. There will be no indoor venue or toilets available at the start. Public toilets can be found in Nairn town centre.

Directions/Parking

Parking at Maggot car park, Nairn. From Forres, travelling on the A96, turn right before the bridge over the river Nairn. From Inverness, travelling on the A96, cross the bridge over the river Nairn and take the first left. Both directions are signed for Lochloy Holiday Park. Registration will be at the car park. The Start/Finish will be approx. 100m from the parking, between the holiday park’s Bar&Restaurant and river. Download will be located next to the Bailey bridge in the car park.

Courses

Novice 1.8km
Short 2.5km
Long 3.7km

Courses will cover a mixed terrain of sand dunes (short course) and sand dunes + pine forest (long course) on a 1-4.000 map scale. Symbols are as for sprint maps (ISSprOM). The short course will be on one A4 page, the long course extends on the reverse. The Novice course will cross the Bailey bridge and go around the harbour.

Registration/Start times

Registration will open at 17:45.
First start 18:00
Last start 19:00
Courses close 20:00

Note that anyone under the age of 14 MUST be accompanied on the course by an adult unless the parent/guardian can convince the organizer of the young orienteer's proven competence at night orienteering. Adults shadowing juniors on the Night Novice course can run competitively on the Short/Long afterwards. If you shadow a junior on the Short/Long you should declare yourself non-competitive to the organiser if later running one of those courses.

Covid-19

Please do not attend if you or anyone in your household feel unwell or have any Covid-19 symptoms (well documented elsewhere). Also, do not attend if you or anyone in your household have been told to isolate or quarantine. People in higher risk categories should be aware that meeting a group of people does increase the possibility of them becoming infected. We also recommend that if you have a smartphone, you download the Protect Scotland app. Competitors should read and abide by British Orienteering's Code of Conduct for Participants.

Safety

As it is December, hat and gloves are recommended, as is a reflective/waterproof jacket. Please carry a spare head torch and a whistle. On a less pleasing note, as the area is popular with dog walkers, one must have regard to dog-related matter which might be underfoot. Organiser’s mobile is printed on the map should you require modest assistance. Emergency 999.

In the event of cancellation due to adverse weather notices will be posted on INVOC website and facebook page
