The Event will take place in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline (Fife/Scotland) extending into the town area bordered by Glen Bridge, Carnegie Drive, St Margaret’s Drive and Nethertown Broad Street.

This is an orienteering event.  Competitors are given a map with control points marked and must visit each control in sequence.  Control points will be identified on the ground with an orange/white flag.   Attendance at each control is evidenced from a digital recording device (SI card) carried by the competitor, available for hire at no extra cost.  A charge of £35 will be made if lost.

Map:
The map has been created especially for this event and has drawn to ISSOM2007 at 1:4000 with a 5m contour interval.

Terrain:
The area is varied, encompassing old town structures and well maintained fast parkland.  Most competitors will experience alleyways, quiet streets and a steep sided gorge providing interesting route choices.

Assembly:
The assembly area is in the 2nd Fife Scout Hall in West End Park at the end of Berrylaw Place, Dunfermline, KY12 8AG.

Travel:
It is possible to travel to this event using public transport depending on your location.  Time to Assembly from public transport hubs:
Dunfermline Town Train Station – 25 mins walk. [Not Queen Margaret Station]
Dunfermline Bus Station – 11 mins walk.

Start Times:
11am – 1pm.  5 mins walk from Assembly to Start.  The event does not plan to pre-allocate start times at the moment.

Courses:
The event will offer Standard courses following the UK Urban Orienteering guidelines:

Course

No. Description Length Competitive Class
1 Black 6-10km M Open
2 Brown 5-8km W Open, M40+,
3 Blue 4-6.5km M55+, W40+
4 Green 3-5km M65+, W55+
5 Short Green 2.5-4km W65+ M75+
6 Light Green 3-5km M/W16-
7 Yellow 2-3.5km M/W12-

The course length shown is the direct straight-line distance between controls and due to the nature of urban orienteering, there will be buildings, fences to run/navigate around and perhaps steep terrain meaning that the direct path is not possible.

To complete the course successfully, the distance involved will be significantly greater than the course length stated above.

Competitors are welcome to enter any course according to their ability but will only be competitive for league points when they run the course indicated above.

Volunteers (**free entry**):
We are a small club and therefore need some additional helpers on the day to make the event viable.  If you are able to support the event after or before your run then please contact the organiser (mappingmum [at] gmail [dot] com).  All helpers can enter the event for free with a discount code I will share when I receive your e-mail or call :-) Reminder: registration is indoors with tea and coffee being provided by the Scouts.

Electronic Timimg:
At the time of entries going live, we anticipate this event will offer both SI and SIAC timing with card hire available.  An appropriate charge will be requested if lost.
