The Brecon to Cardiff Ultra is a linear 70 kilometer race along the picturesque Taff Trail.  The race starts at 0800 on Sunday 10th February 2019 in Brecon and finishes at Coleg Y Cymoedd, Nantgarw.

The route is fully marked and runs through the Brecon Beacons National Park past mountains, rivers, reservoirs and woodland taking in some stunning views.   The first 30k of the route is almost exclusively on footpath or Forestry Trails. From Merthyr the route follows an off road cycle path all the way to the finish.  There will be a drop bag facility to transport one drop bag from the start to the Merthyr Checkpoint (at approximately 32k) and then onwards to the finish.  This will allow you to access kit – particularly a change of trainers as the route moves from trail to tarmac for the second half.  Because it is fully marked it is very easy to navigate, making this an ideal race for beginners looking to complete their first ultra or for experienced runners to post a fast time.  There will be gps / gpx data available for runners to use with any gps devices for navigation. The route is undulating but features an early climb before generally heading downhill to the finish.

The route is easily accessed by road making it an excellent race for supporters who will be able to follow the race as it travels south to the finish. There will be several great locations where supporters can congregate making a great atmosphere for the competitors!

Registration for the event will take place the night before and the morning of the race - for 2019 this will be at Nantgarw.  Coach transport is supplied for all competitors to the start in Brecon.  There will be checkpoints along the route supplying water, coke, sweets, biscuits, flapjacks etc. to keep all the runners well supplied.  There will also be first aid cover for the event.  All finishers will receive a t-shirt and medal.
