The Lets Run Adventures Tandem will take place on Sunday 29th of January 2023 starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall on the North Yorkshire Moors.

The Tandem is a challenge event open to runners and walkers with a time limit of 10 hours, the event is a pair event with a mass start, before your team splits to their respective routes, one team mate takes the East Route, the other the West Route.

This year we are pleased to announce that we are able to return to the original route with runners meeting their partner in the village of Stape.

The success of your team will be on choosing a team mate of a similar pace to reach the North Yorkshire Railway Outstation in Stape aka 'the reunion checkpoint' to complete the last 8mls of the race together as a team. You will not be allowed to abandon your team mate.....it must be done as a team.

16 years minimum age.

Registration will take place from 08:00 to 08:45 with a mass start at 09:00hrs.

Cut offs will apply at the North Yorkshire Railway Outpost, Stape, where all competitors must have left by 17:00hrs if intending to continue.

Both routes are around 28 miles long and have around 3,500ft of elevation.

This is a winter challenge and as such the following equipment must be worn or carried:

  • Head torch with spare batteries.
  • Fully waterproof taped seams jacket and trousers
  • Hat and gloves.
  • Long sleeved thermal top.
  • Long bottoms if not being worn are to be carried.
  • Spare thermal top.
  • Bivvy bag not blanket
  • 500 mls of fluid.
  • Spare food.
  • Charged mobile phone & organisers mobile phone number.
  • Map OSL 27 or equivalent.
  • Working compass.
  • Whistle.
  • Mug for drinks at CP.

This is the minimum that must be carried and it is recommended that spares are also included.

Each participant will be asked to sign to say that they have the full kit requirement. There will be a random check during the event and anyone found not to be carrying the mandatory kit will be withdrawn from the event.

It is also recommended that participants have OS Locate and What Three Words loaded onto their mobile phones.

This is a self navigation event so it is expected that entrants will be competent navigators with both map and compass. It should be beared in mind that due to the time of year some participants will spend time in the dark.

A suggested route will be marked on a map at the start. Participants can pick their own route between checkpoint locations as long as they are all visited in the correct order and public rights of way are used. Each competitor will have the CP locations printed on their number and these need to be clipped at each one either by the competitor or CP Marshall.

There will be snacks and drinks at some of the checkpoint locations and a hot meal and drinks at the finish.

All participants who finish The Tandem as a pair will receive a badge and a memento of their achievement.

Maximum of 75 pairs.  No entries on the day.

There is no participant parking at Goathland Village Hall, public car parks within the village should be used.
