Olympic Routes 2012.
These routes took 2 years in planning. All 3 routes are similar to previous years with the exception, that we have taken the "easy" bits out and replaced them with real Terrier terain! The distances and heights gained are similar to previous years. Please do not be fooled by this.
For the 2 longer routes we have added: Harrisend Fell (from the earliest Terrier route), Beacon Fell, Longridge Fell (via Jeffrey Hill) and Waddington Fell with the routes splitting on the descent of Waddington Fell.
All 3 routes have also been altered towards the finish. We are going to send you all up Furnessfold Road to rejoin last years route on the top of Goodber Common. ( local name - I call this Wray Fell).
As usual we will be using the Youth Hostel in Slaidburn as our main feed station for all 3 routes. We will also providing our individually baked and wrapped flapjack for other feed stations.
I believe these routes to be the hardest sportive in the UK. We could have added extra miles for the sake of it, but we have kept with our ethos - NO JUNK MILES! Le terrier is aquiring a minor cult status, a well run sportive by a friendly cycling club in probably the quietest area of England with superb scenery and views.
All profits from the ride go to charity.
Start Time: 06:30 - 08:30
