This course is specifically designed to compliment the OMM, the Original Mountain Marathon.

The OMM Mountain Marthon Skills Day will develop all the necessary skills to get the edge on your competition for advanced tactical racing. Let your mates see your heels, rather than you see theirs!!

Based in Glenridding | All about Mountain Marathons

What to expect.
A professionally run course to gain extra skills to improve your mountain marathon running.

The course will entail roughly 2 hours of theory, based indoors where we can all discuss around a table with tea and coffee. After a break for more refreshments we will then head out on to the local fells for some practical learning and navigation training using real MM control kites using maps supplied by Mountain Run of either mock MM maps or real MM maps depending on the day.

We'll have plenty of fun, chats, learning new skills, mixed weather and great MM terrain.

Come prepared with an open mind, the correct clothing and equipment, lunch and snacks and plenty of smiles.

What will you learn?

  • Understand navigation from a Mountain Marathon runners mind set
  • To navigate whilst on the move
  • Understand contours in detail, this is an essential MM skill
  • How to think like a Mountain Marathon competitor
  • Tactics for score classes
  • Tactics for linear classes [like C, B, A & Elite]
  • How to route plan for both disciplines
  • How to re-locate [static and on the move]

  • Runners wanting to take their navigation to the next level
  • Fell runners taking part in their first mountain marathon

  1. Helvellyn YHA. You can request 'full board' at £37.50 per night, for a meal when you arrive, breakfast in the morning & a packed lunch to take out on the fell!. Mountain Run recommends this option, for hearty english cuisine, good surroundings & excellent lakeland views only a stones throw from our Mountain Run HQ.
  2. Glenridding Hotel. Great hotel right in the centre of Glenridding
  3. Inn on the Lake. Great hotel right in the centre of Glenridding
