This is an Anytime Challenge which can be undertaken at a date and time of your choosing between the opening and closing dates. The route is that of the original LDWA XXX challenge event which ran from 1977 to 1983 with a start and finish in the historic city of Winchester at the River Park Leisure Centre, SO23 7DD.
The challenge is to complete the route on foot within 14 hours.
Please note that the event is unsupported and there will be no Marshalls on the route.
From the old city and its statue of King Alfred the route follows the Itchen then enters the South Downs National Park with lovely views, passing through delightful villages and estates before returning via the South Downs Way.
Upon registering you will be emailed a link to download the route description and GPX file. The route description contains a number of questions, the answers to which can be found along the route.
When you have finished the walk, send an email to the address given in the instructions, with a list of your answers. Upon receipt of your notification and verification of answers you will be emailed your certificate.
The Wessex LDWA website will be updated regularly to show the progress of the event.
We hope you enjoy this walk in the beautiful South Downs!
